We Need Volunteers to help with our packing party!  Sign Up Here!

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that sends gift-filled shoeboxes to the world’s poorest children.  These children may have never owned their own toothbrush or bar of soap, and they may have NEVER heard about JESUS.  SCA will be packing shoeboxes that will not only bring joy to many children, but more importantly, will give them the Gospel in their own language.

We are offering three ways to participate this year:

  1. PACKING PARTY We will be having a shoebox packing project during the school day for grades 5K – 8 on Tuesday, November 14 (students only).   See the attached list for the items each grade level is being asked to bring.  Items must be NEW and FIT IN A SHOEBOX.   We are also asking each student to bring $1 to help with shipping costs for the boxes. If you feel further led to donate to this amazing ministry, please email Mr. McDonald at rmcdonald@fbns.org  Items and optional monetary donations may be turned in to your child’s homeroom teacher.
  2. BUILD A BOX WITH YOUR FAMILY – Pick up an empty shoebox from the front office area, or use your own standard-sized plastic or cardboard shoebox.  You can also find information about packing your box, or pay the shipping online to follow your box at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/  Return your completed shoebox any time from November 13-17 to the office area, or have your child turn it in to his or her homeroom.
  3. BUILD A BOX ONLINE –  Building a box online saves time, costs about the same as packing a box yourself, and you can still personalize it with a letter and picture!  These boxes usually go to difficult to reach countries, such as Muslim or communist countries.  Go to our school link to build a box online www.scawarriors.org/shoeboxes.  We have a school goal of 60 online boxes this year.

We will have a special PTF focused on Operation Christmas Child.
We encourage you to take part in our Monday, November 18th Parent Teacher Fellowship from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall (park near the fellowship hall). Families are invited to bring their completed Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, one per student, or as many as your family would like to pack! That night, there will be stations for families to visit as they bring their box.  There will be a photo opp area where families can take a photo with their box or boxes.  Students will have an activity area where they can color and complete a fun worksheet that can go in their box that makes the box even more personal.  Then there will be a station where they, along with some of our teachers, can pray over the box.  Shoe boxes and brochures will be available soon in the school office. Include payment in box unless paying online.  Online payment and shoebox packing information is available at:  samaritanspurse.org/occ.  Paying online allows you to follow your box destination. I think you all agree that Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful ministry worthy of our full participation. We are looking forward to seeing our SCA families serve together!
