Ridley Pearson, author of the Kingdom Keepers series held a contest this past summer.  He decided to seek input from his readers about how the series should end.  He had over 150,000 entries from all over the world and all 50 states.  Rising 8th grade student, Madi Burke, was chosen as a winner!  Her acknowledgement appears at the end of the book along with the other winners and honorable mentions.  Madi’s parents want to express their deepest gratitude to all the SCA teachers past and present who have motivated Madi’s love of reading and writing. 

The SCA track teams had their best day of all time at their State meet on Saturday.

The boys almost doubled last season’s point total.  They scored 38.5 points to finish 2nd to Trinity.  
They collected their 1st ever trophy is boys track.

The SCA girls won their 6th title in a row- edging Palmetto Christian 47-46.  It came down to the last race of the day, but SCA prevailed.

On Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29, the SCA golf team competed in the 2014 SCISA 2A State Golf Tournament.  The tournament was held at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC.  The Warriors earned a runner-up finish for the 3rd consecutive year.  The team was led in scoring by freshman Nick Wills who placed 4th overall in the tournament.  Ryan Kincaid, Landon Moss, and Thomas Mathis also contributed to the overall team score.  The Warriors finish with a regular season record of 22-9 and final record of 30-10.

    On March 11 the SCA Jr. Beta Quiz Bowl Team competed in the SCISA Regional Middle School Quiz Bowl tournament which was held at St. Joseph’s School in Greenville.  The winner of this tournament advanced to the state finals.  Our team came in 2nd place which was a great showing for our first SCISA competition.  Team members are Laura Mitchell (captain), Seth Baugh, Carson Crosby, Caleb Friend and Kyle Volk. 

Kelsey Black is a senior at SCA where she has the opportunity to be a part of the  Service Learning Program. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to engage in the teaching environment and to be of service to both teachers and students. Kelsey assist the PE teacher and students in the day's lesson by leading in warm-ups, demonstrating skills and offering encouragement.  The students love her coming to class. 

The golf team competed Monday in the Spartanburg County High School Championship at Woodfin Ridge Golf Club. The warriors finished 8th overall and defeated both Chesnee and Broome.
Ryan Kincaid led the team by setting a new school record for 18 holes with a 3 under par 69. Ryan placed 2nd overall (out of 50 golfers) earning medalist runner up and All County honors.
Landon Moss, Thomas Mathis, Colby Seay, and Parker Lewis contributed to the team score.

Congratulations!

Kendall Stevens Austin Turner Nick Edwards and Landon Moss were playing basketball in the gym when the 1st grade came in for their PE class.  The students started cheering and yelling for them as they would shoot and score. Yes the goals were down already for the 1st graders to shoot.

Mr. McDonald took a group of students from SCA Student Government to the Landmark Resort at Myrtle Beach.  These students were participating in the SCISA Spring Convention.
