SUMMARY:Veteran's Day Program
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite ALL veterans to our program. \nOur special speaker for this year’s program is Adrian Acosta. \nAdrian Acosta is the Director of Public Relations for Spartanburg School District Two\, a role he has held for nearly 10 years. Born in Colombia\, South America and raised in Boiling Springs since infancy\, Adrian combines deep local roots with a broad range of experience in media\, military service\, and community engagement. \nAdrian earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the College of Charleston. Before joining Spartanburg School District Two\, he spent 13 years working with the Fox affiliate in Greenville\, honing his skills in communications and public affairs. \nIn 2000\, Adrian enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as part of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during the onset of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. His unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for their actions in Iraq. Adrian earned an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant\, and his military decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Medal\, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon\, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with two bronze campaign stars. \nAdrian is a devoted family man\, married for 21 years to his high school sweetheart. Together\, they have four children\, including triplets who are seniors at Boiling Springs High School\, and their oldest daughter\, Natalie\, is a freshman at Converse University. He is an active member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church\, where he was baptized and born again in the likeness of Jesus in 2018. \n

SUMMARY:Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection
DESCRIPTION:Our K3 through 12th grades will be collecting items for our Operation Christmas Child packing project now – November 14.  Each grade level will collect certain items.  ITEMS EACH GRADE LEVEL IS COLLECTING AND MORE! \nWe will have a school-wide packing party on Tuesday\, November 18. \nIf a family wants to make a box\, adhesive boy/girl labels with instructions are located near the front desk.  Please use a standard-size cardboard or plastic shoebox.  These may be returned to the office area or to your student’s homeroom from November 10th -19th.  Families may also BUILD A BOX ONLINE at our SCA link. www.scawarriors.org/shoeboxes \nMore information about Operation Christmas Child is available on this link. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/ \nWe will have a special PTF focused on Operation Christmas Child.\nWe encourage you to take part in our Monday\, November 18th Parent Teacher Fellowship from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall (park near the fellowship hall). Families are invited to bring their completed Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes\, one per student\, or as many as your family would like to pack! That night\, there will be stations for families to visit as they bring their box.  There will be a photo opp area where families can take a photo with their box or boxes.  Students will have an activity area where they can color and complete a fun worksheet that can go in their box that makes the box even more personal.  Then there will be a station where they\, along with some of our teachers\, can pray over the box.  Shoe boxes and brochures will be available soon in the school office. Include payment in box unless paying online.  Online payment and shoebox packing information is available at:  samaritanspurse.org/occ.  Paying online allows you to follow your box destination. I think you all agree that Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful ministry worthy of our full participation. We are looking forward to seeing our SCA families serve together!
